Session: Bringing Agile to Government Project Management

Panel Description: A panel of distinguished experts in agile project management will discuss their experiences in managing agile projects in the Federal government. Three of the panelists are from 18F, which is a government-wide civic consultancy to help agencies rapidly deploy tools and services that are easy to operate, cost efficient, and reusable. Our fourth panelist is from the Peace Corps’ Office of the Chief Information Officer where he manages the Project Management team and has led several agile projects. The panelists will share the challenges and benefits of bringing agile project management methods to the Federal government.

Biography:  Duane Rollins is an UX Design and Product Strategy consultant at 18F where he helps federal agencies adopt modern approaches to managing and delivering digital services. He is also the co-founder of STEMLY, a nonprofit organization that advocates for high quality STEM education with the goal of getting more underrepresented individuals into STEM fields.

Prior to joining 18F, he worked at Threespot helping social impact organizations such as Harvard Business School, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the USO, and the Rockefeller Foundation rethink how digital mediums could better serve users and business objectives. His passion for education led him to teach user experience design at General Assembly and he sits on the board of the Washington Leadership Academy Public Charter School. He is a proud resident of Washington, DC.
