Call for Papers and Case Studies

The abstract submission process is now closed.  The call for papers for the 2017 Project Management Symposium will open in September 2016.

Topic Areas

The Project Management Center for Excellence at the University of Maryland invites abstracts for the 2016 Maryland Project Management Symposium to be held on May 12-13, 2016 in College Park.  Individuals and organizations are invited to submit abstracts of papers and case studies to be included in program sessions for the symposium.  These papers and case studies should be of interest to project managers, consulting engineers and architects, construction managers, policy and agency personnel, and researchers and educators. The theme for the symposium will be “Turning Knowledge into Practice.”  Successful submissions should fit within this theme.

Abstracts are sought in the following program and project management topic areas:

  • Agile/IT
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Construction management
  • Disaster management
  • Federal Programs
  • People in Projects
  • Education
  • Acquisition – including Public Private Partnerships (P3) & IPD
  • Risk and Big Data
  • Sustainability
  • PM Methodology

What’s Next?

If your abstract is selected, you will be notified via e-mail on or before Monday, December 14, 2015.  Below is a list of important deadlines for potential speakers.

October 1, 2015 Call for papers and case studies opens
December 11, 2015 Last day to submit your abstract
January 15, 2016 Acceptance notifications released via e-mail
March 1, 2016 Registration deadline for all speakers
March 15, 2016 Completed papers or case studies due
April 25, 2016 Completed presentations due
May 3, 2016 Final program completed

Please note that all selected speakers will need to register for the two day symposium by March 1, 2016 at the speaker rate of $325.
