Paper (51): Analyzing the Effectiveness of Project Management Course: A case study of American College of Dubai, UAE
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of project management instructional methodology and course content on achievement of course learning outcomes. We present the case of project management course taught as a capstone course in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program in American College of Dubai, UAE. The pedagogy includes a range of techniques such as traditional lectures, case studies, and team based projects, which are used as assessments. The course learning outcomes are aligned with the QFEmirates, as stipulated by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research and corresponds to all levels of learning- Knowledge, Skills, and Competency. Achievement of the course learning and overall student satisfaction with the course is investigated through a survey. Specific recommendations for improvement of course content, and pedagogy is presented.
Biography: Dr. Mario M. Pallada is currently employed at the American College of Dubai, UAE as Dean of the Business Department and a concurrent professor in business subjects namely; Managing Quality, Strategic Management, Project Management, Small Business Management, Family Business Management and others.
Dr. Pallada completed his Doctorate Degree in Management and Master in Business Management from Capitol University, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines.
He has been teaching for the last seven years in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Before I joining the academe, Dr. Pallada spent 18 years working in the banking industry and held the position of Branch Manager during his last 6 years of employment.
