Abstract: Procurement of IT work packages has never been easy. The advent of agile delivery methodologies has only made this more complex. You used to be able to define your scope of work, deliverables and contract type (e.g. fixed price or time & material) to deliver this work. The flexibility to change product backlog content and priorities during project execution makes it more difficult to nail down the scope of a vendor work package up front, and changes the vendor behavior.

In this talk we will explore contacting in an Agile world from a Project Manager perspective. We will look at the most used contracting forms, and how they may impact your project. Agile contracting myths and realities

Goal of this talk is to arm Project Managers with information so they can:

  • Understand impact of the contract form on project execution and project risks
  • Have constructive conversations with your purchasing departments and potential partners to set your project up for success
