Abstract:

Devised and constructed with sponsorship from the US Department of Energy at Arizona State University’s School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, the Integrated Program/Project Management Maturity and Environment Total Risk Rating (IP2M METRR) framework is designed to support communication among the many roles in project management, namely senior leadership, project managers, program planning and control and the customer.

This presentation introduces this novel framework, developed to measure both the maturity of a key project management practice, earned value management, and the environment supporting it. It is a survey instrument composed of 56 attributes across ten subprocesses (e.g., organizing, scheduling) and 27 factors in four categories; namely, culture, people, practices, resources. Project managers will increase their understanding of the role they play as well as that of senior management in ensuring the project management system is optimized for data driven informed decision making.
