User savvy PMIS technology implementation to drive change management – Mehta
Abstract:
Hello, my name is Prath Mehta, PMP, and I work at JMT – a multidisciplinary company where I lead a team of talented individuals to support our clients in implementing Project Management Information Systems, or PMIS. Our client base is primarily civic and state agencies responsible for maintaining civilian infrastructure.
For the last 20 years, I have worked with PMIS implementation, and my work has centered on change management, communication, and stakeholder engagement—the focus skills in project management. We often start out by focusing on the user’s technology savviness, while we should be focusing on whether our technology is user-savvy. Many projects struggle because leadership often prioritizes new technology over the basics of effective implementation. For project managers, understanding these fundamentals is crucial to achieving real and lasting change while driving project success.
This presentation will share my experiences in the implementation of PMIS to drive modernization and standardization while addressing common challenges in change management. I will explore the importance of clear communication and proactive stakeholder engagement, especially across diverse stakeholders, to keep projects within budget and on schedule.
We’ll also discuss the evolution of PMIS technology and practical strategies for creating alignment among varied stakeholders. Finally, I’ll share key lessons learned and invite you to share your insights. I look forward to an engaging discussion on how we can drive progress together.
