Presentation: Motivating High-Performing Teams to ensure Project Success

Abstract: Leaders must consider the environment that they create for their team and the culture that exists within their organization and/or department. “It is possible to provide an environment in which almost all of the subjects contribute toward the group interest. Situations exist that can make individuals adopt group goals and choose actions in terms of those goals” (Foss & Lindenberg, 2012, pg. 372). By creating an environment that encourages teamwork and communication, leaders foster a culture that establishes clear goals and through their own actions, set a positive example that focuses on team and organizational goals. “Transformational leadership encourages employees to transcend their self-interests for the good of the team and the organization, pushes them to address higher-order needs, and enables them to achieve performance beyond expectations” (Wang, 2016, pg. 3232). “When leaders encourage employees to focus on the good of the team and organization and stimulate them intellectually, we expect that employees will be more likely to enjoy working with people who have different knowledge and views” (Wang, 2016, pg. 3232).
