Abstract: This presentation will provide an overview of the diverse disciplines within project controls and the critical functions they serve. Attendees will learn strategies for maximizing the value of project controls support to enhance project outcomes. Additionally, the session will explore the benefits of a career in the project controls industry as well as insights on how program and project managers can successfully pivot into this dynamic field. The presentation will conclude with an overview of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACEI) and its current regional initiatives, highlighting opportunities for professional growth and industry engagement.

Biography: Mark Zeidan is a career planner and scheduler. He has managed project schedules for billions of dollars of projects in the semi-conductor, commercial construction and nuclear energy industries. He has managed the schedule management process through the full life cycle of projects, from conceptual planning/baseline schedule development to closeout/claims management and everything in between. He is currently working on the development and implementation of Gen IV nuclear technology working at X-Energy. He is also currently serving as the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) National Capital Section (NCS) president. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and taking care of his new garden.
