Pending: (35)Improving Program Management at the Department of Energy

Abstract:

· When considering the differences between program vs project management or even amongst programs at the Department of Energy, there are differences in Capability and Complexity that must be recognized and considered because “not all programs are the same” and there is no “one size fits all” or “horse blanket” solution to improving DOE program management.
· The Department is attempting to identify and implement a consistent, repeatable framework that DOE’s unique programs can operate within/to and can help codify – and improve upon – current practices
· The Department is making progress in answering:  “What attributes make up a DOE Program Manager?  And how do you improve upon those attributes?”
