Abstract: As a federal agency known for its strong Program and project management capability, this presentation explores how NASA in cooperation with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is addressing its implementation of the Program Management Improvement and Accountability Act (PMIAA). The presentation describes how the agency organized to address the expectations of the law and implementation guidance from OMB to craft an effective approach to further enhance Program and project management at NASA. The presentation describes key features of the NASA’s PMIAA Implementation plan; its support of OPM initiatives; and lessons from the first year of implementation including the performance of the first PMIAA Portfolio Review. Lastly the paper addresses the way forward for the second year of execution.
