Abstract: Earned value is an approach to track the value of a project’s product as it relates to planned and actual spending. This session will introduce the audience to basic earned value concepts and how to use these concepts to forecast and report project costs. The material presented follows the foundation provided in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) established by the Project Management Institute (PMI®). We will follow a case study to demonstrated the concepts, challenge the audience and forecast estimate at completion.

Abstract: This paper and presentation will discuss the importance of creating solid ground for project performance reporting through good baseline practices, cover the process to baseline a project in MS Project, review baseline reports in MS Project and discuss how to manage project baselines for project status and performance reporting.

Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of good baseline data for performance reporting and insight into managing baselines in their organization. They will learn how to baseline schedules and review baseline reporting in Microsoft Project Professional.
