Abstract:

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) built a mature Project Management Office (PMO) designed to support product development, which was the subject of a Project Management Institute case study. Building upon its maturity model, the PMO assessed strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats in order to continue to add value to the organization. This is a change management story about how the EIA PMO team demonstrated resilience by pivoting its focus to supporting staff development and business process improvement projects, using Lean principles.

Participants will take away lessons and tactical tips for:

  • Understanding the PMO’s role in supporting organization strategic priorities
  • Quantifying value delivery and the role of self-assessment
  • Developing a high-performing team with diverse skillsets
