Abstract:

Clinical research project managers are faced with a wide range of risk uncertainties that can threaten research integrity and operational continuity when dealing with public health crises, such as the COVID-19 epidemic and the Ebola outbreak. This presentation focuses on fundamental risk management strategies and the development of team resilience to effectively handle these uncertainties. In this discussion, we will explore specific approaches aimed at identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, emphasizing the significance of cohesive cross-functional teams. This talk will provide practical insights for facilitating clinical research projects, utilizing lessons learned from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. It will emphasize the importance of cultural awareness, stakeholders’ engagement, good communication for escalating project risks, and leadership support in such endeavors.
