The College of Performance Management (CPM) is a 501c6 business association with the mission to “share, promote, and advance the best of planning, control, and performance management for projects of all sizes and complexity.” Our objectives include (1) improving the professional status, (2) providing a focal point for dissemination of knowledge, (3) promoting global collaboration, (4) Encouraging government and industry support the research and educational programs.
CPM has a 40 year history, starting as the Performance Management Association (PMA) and leading back to the start of Earned Value Management (EVM) in the early 1960s. Four Levels of Certification
1. Level D (Certified Project Management Associate): This level is suitable for individuals who are new to project management or have limited experience. It focuses on basic project management knowledge and skills.
2. Level C (Certified Project Manager): Level C is for project managers with some experience, typically responsible for managing smaller projects or working as part of a project team. It covers a broader range of project management competencies.
3. Level B (Certified Senior Project Manager): At this level, project managers are experienced professionals responsible for managing complex projects or multiple projects. Level B certification emphasizes advanced project management skills, leadership, and strategic competence.
4. Level A (Certified Projects Director): This is the highest level of certification offered by IPMA. Level A is for senior project management professionals with extensive experience in leading and directing complex projects and programs. It focuses on strategic project management, organizational competence, and leadership at the executive level.
Each level of certification reflects increasing levels of knowledge, skills, and experience in project management, allowing professionals to demonstrate their capabilities and advance their careers in the field.
