Four Levels of Certification

The International Project Management Association (IPMA) offers a certification program with four levels of certification for project, program, and portfolio managers.

1. Level D (Certified Project Management Associate): This level is suitable for individuals who are new to project management or have limited experience. It focuses on basic project management knowledge and skills.

2. Level C (Certified Project Manager): Level C is for project managers with some experience, typically responsible for managing smaller projects or working as part of a project team. It covers a broader range of project management competencies.

3. Level B (Certified Senior Project Manager): At this level, project managers are experienced professionals responsible for managing complex projects or multiple projects. Level B certification emphasizes advanced project management skills, leadership, and strategic competence.

4. Level A (Certified Projects Director): This is the highest level of certification offered by IPMA. Level A is for senior project management professionals with extensive experience in leading and directing complex projects and programs. It focuses on strategic project management, organizational competence, and leadership at the executive level.

Each level of certification reflects increasing levels of knowledge, skills, and experience in project management, allowing professionals to demonstrate their capabilities and advance their careers in the field.
